Fit and finish:

In usual Aspire fashion, fit and finish are excellent. There are no rough edges to be found on my atty. Everything fits together well and has remained decently tight even after continued daily use – including the drip tip… Everything seals tight using multiple o-rings and is without fuss. I haven’t experienced any leaking issues so far. The consensus is that the new bell shape is aesthetically pleasing and the design also offers better protection for the glass than the original  version. The choice of drip tips to match your vape style is a nice addition.

Vape quality:

The 2S can use either the 0.4 or the 1.8 ohm coil. The 1.8 is excellent for salts giving a restricted airflow for “mouth-to-lung” vapers. 2.6mL capacity is fine for nic salt vaping and at 13-14 watts, the 2S gives a reasonably satisfying vape. The Aspire Nautilus 1.8 coil remains one of the best mass produced MTL coils.

I’ve been moving away from nic salts so the 0.4 was of particular interest. The sub-ohm coil really shines with the 2S at just over 20 watts. The 0.4 gives a nice, warm, flavorful “restricted lung hit” with decent cloud with the airflow wide open.  I’ve been even filling the tank with 3mg ejuice, though 6mg tends to be a bit more satisfying. Just switch out the drip tip to the included wide-bore and your all set.

Usage:

Let’s get picky here. The 2S is a great vape but there are a couple of (IMO) small design flaws. One, the top-fill is infinitely better than previous Nautilus tanks however, you must unscrew the top before you can slide it open. This feature is addressing the possibility of “child-resistant” requirements, but it is somewhat annoying. Once opened, the fill port is generously sized and easy to fill. The other fault is that to change the coil, you must break down the 2S “AND” remove the glass to change the coil – inconvenient, especially for those of us plagued with joint issues. Also note the 510 pin is a tad long – you may end up with a small gap as I did on the Aegis Mini.

Final thoughts:

Other than the issues I mentioned, the Nautilus 2S does give you a decent quality vape experience. Being made by Aspire and of the Nautilus family, coils should be readily available in both iterations for a long time – and most stores stock Aspire products. Tanks are coming and going like crazy so knowing there is some built in longevity is a big plus. The vape quality is really good – for me, especially with the 0.4 and traditional nic – and if you can look past the design shortcomings, it’s an improvement from the Nautilus 2 and “X” – worth the purchase. I would have given this a bit higher rating if not for the minor niggles.
