Honest review time: Bakers Delight from The Broke Vaper and WCC

Here’s a look at a brand new set from bakers delight that’s actually a collaboration of sorts between The Broke Vaper and West Coast Clouds. It’s a new set sent over from Danny himself of Broke Vaper fame. The lineup is right up my alley and is based on a line of bakery type flavours. They’ve also launched a few other lines but after reading the descriptions I just had to crack this set open. Here are my honest thoughts on Baker’s Delight The Broke Vaper and WCC.

Bottles/Packaging:

The juices all come in clear 60ml authentic Chubby Gorilla style bottles with light coloured labels that have a sort of picnic table or classic diner kind of theme to them. Bakers Delight is scrawled across the top while the name of the flavour sits pretty much dead center. The labels contain all the usual important info we like to see and the set comes in a 75vg blend with the ones I received being 3mg in strength.

Setup:

Testing was done mostly in a Hadaly clone with a three core alien(3×28/36ni80) build from the Canadian Coil makers SaddleHorse Blues, 4/5 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to 0.28 ohms and running between 35-45w. Using Puff cotton, rda rinsed and rewicked in between. Click here for a shot of a fresh build.

Chef’s Special

Site description: Fresh baked cookies made with cheesecake and graham crackers topped with whipcream.

My thoughts: When I first tasted the set I didn’t have the descriptions handy so it was essentially a blind taste test. Bakers delight Chef’s Special having a somewhat obscure name I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it at first. What I got from it wasn’t far off from the actual description which to me tastes something like an oatmeal cookie with a thick creamy finish.

What I was actually tasting was a fresh baked cookie with creamy cheesecake topped with graham cracker and whipped cream. I can’t really get a good grip on the cookie since to me it tasted more like oatmeal but I definitely get the creamy slightly cheesy taste of the cheesecake.

The graham topping for me just contributes more to the cookie aspect but it doesn’t really stand out on it’s own like I’ve seen in other cheesecake flavours. Definitely not your average cookie kind of flavour but I still think almost any fan of dessert flavours will appreciate something like this.

Fluffy Brown

Site description: Gooey fluffy crack pie – graham cracker and cookie vanilla pudding pie.

My thoughts: Crack pie is actually a real thing and if you’ve ever tried a real Crack Pie you know it’s a super decadent mix of butter, brown sugar and oats with the real deal involving corn powder to give it a distinct sweet corn taste. I’ve tried other versions which don’t include the corn or substitute the crust with a more traditional pie crust but the main component of butter and brown sugar always remains.

With Bakers delight Fluffy Brown I feel it leans more towards the type of crack pie without the corn powder filling as I mostly just get a lightly sweet brown sugar taste with a somewhat creamy base. There’s a touch of a cookie or crust to it but the graham cracker much like Chef’s Special is rather subtle. This was another one where I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it until I read the description then it all kind of made sense. While I do find it a fairly simple flavour I’m sure fans of brown sugar based flavours will dig it.

Funnel Tunnel

Site description: We took cake and doughnuts and deep-fried them together and topped it off with a sweet sugary topping

My thoughts: Fried dough flavours aren’t anything new in the world of ejuice flavours and I’ve definitely had my fair share of them over the years. It’s a pretty simple sort of flavour but getting the balance of it just right always seem to be a challenge. With Funnel Tunnel it looks like they’ve actually combined a doughnut and cake to create the end result which is essentially still a Funnel Cake.

With Funnel Tunnel from Bakers delight, I get a pretty typical mix of sweet sugar and oily fried dough. The sugary topping for me again tastes like a brown sugar sort of thing while I find the dough has just the lightest hint of spice to it, just enough to let you know it’s a fried dough or doughnut and not just some greasy bread.

I don’t really get the cake aspect from the description but it does taste and feel like a funnel cake typically would. It also has that slightly oily fried dough taste that I’ve come to expect of fried dough flavours but it’s not cloying or gross and despite the sugary topping it’s not overly sweet either. I think anyone who enjoys a good carni cake will appreciate this one!

This S#!t is Bananas

Site description: Rich vanilla custard pudding banana pie

My thoughts: This S#!t is Bananas by Bakers delight, B, A, N, A, N, A, S… Ok I’ll spare you but this s#!t is definitely bananas. It’s based on a pretty common flavour but one that is well loved by many, we’re talking about the venerable banana cream pie. A classic by nearly anyones standards.

With This S#!t I get a very bright sweet banana flavour up front. It’s not a very natural tasting banana and leans more towards that artificial candy or amoxicillin sort of taste which I know is a pretty polarizing flavour, you either love it or hate it. I’m sort of in the middle as I do enjoy the taste of banana flavoured candy like Runts but would more often lean towards a natural banana if I had the choice.

That said I don’t mind that candy banana flavour so long as it’s balanced out with something else which This S#!t is. That candy banana is joined by a thick rich vanilla custard and if I’m not mistaken a ribbon of sweet caramel. It’s a sweet and creamy flavour with the banana being the most forward in the mix. Fairly simple yet oh so delicious. Fans of banana cream type flavours will dig this one!!

White Lemon

Site description: A delicious fully white lemon cake.

My thoughts: When I first started vaping, citrus flavours were one of my least favorite as many of the lemon flavours at the time had the unfortunate quality of tasting like a bottle of Pledge. A few years later and they really managed to tweak the formulas as citrus and in particular lemon flavours soon became one of my go to favorites. Admittedly they’re not all created equally and many have left me wanting but with White Lemon I may have found one of my favorite lemon flavours yet.

Bakers delight White Lemon is an incredible mix of light and fluffy white cake with a good dollop of lemon curd. It reminds me of a lemon meringue pie crossed with an angel food cake or something like that. It’s lightly sweet with a nice natural tasting lemon citrus with a sort of fluffy, creamy white cake finish.

It’s very soft, with very little bite as many citrus flavours can have and go down smoothly despite the healthy amount of citrus it contains. The cake does get a bit lost and at times for me it’s almost more like a lemon meringue pie without the crust just the sweet tangy curd and a dollop of meringue on top. The cake almost acting like the meringue smoothing it out and giving it a softer taste and feel. Fans of citrus flavours shouldn’t sleep on this one!

Final thoughts:

I’m a big fan of Bakers delight flavours which I feel don’t get as much attention these days as the fruity flavours tend to, so for me it was really nice to receive a full set of dessert inspired flavours to try out. Not only that but I found the set to be very well put together and found a couple new favs among them. I got to say The Broke Vaper and West Coast Clouds from Bakers delight did a fantastic job and I’m looking forward to trying out more of their stuff. So big thanks to Danny and Nic. Also be sure to stay tuned for even more from The Broke Vaper!!
