Honest one shot: Dat Bacco Doe from Theory Labs

Here’s a look at a delightful tobacco flavour I picked up from the folks at Theory Labs. I actually got it from Farouk the gentleman behind the company at the last CVE but because of life and things I’m just getting around to it now. It’s exactly the kind of flavour I gravitate to and I kinda wish I had gotten to it sooner. It’s called Dat Bacco Doe and here’s what I think of it:

Bottles/Packaging:

The juice comes in an amber coloured 60ml chubby gorilla style bottle with a rather simple abstract looking orange and red label. It’s got some interesting background design but I can’t quite tell what it’s supposed to be. On the front however it sports the name in big bold letters along with a couple of tobacco leafs so there’s no question as to what it’s supposed to be. The labels are compliant with all the usual good stuff in fine print we like to see. The juice comes in a 70vg blend and the bottle I picked up was in 3mg. Here’s a shot of the bottle I got:

Setup:

Testing was done mostly in a Hadaly clone with a three core alien(3×28/36ni80) build from the Canadian Coil makers SaddleHorse Blues, 4/5 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to 0.28 ohms and running between 35-45w. Using Puff cotton, rda rinsed and rewicked in between. Here’s a shot of a fresh build:

Dat Bacco Doe

Site description: A complex blend of tobaccos with a sweet and distinct finish.

My thoughts: Dat Bacco Doe is one of those tobacco blends that’s kind of hard to put your finger on. Even the description refers to it simply as a complex blend and though it comes off tasting fairly simple I’m sure there’s much more to it. For me it’s light and sweet with more of a dry cured taste as opposed to a fresher wetter blend. It tastes like a blond tobacco or possibly a Canadian blend, light, dry and mild but there’s some elements to it which remind me of a nice sweet cigar as well. It’s not sweet like sugary sweet but fairly sweet by tobacco standards.

I also feels there’s a slight nuttiness to it which reminds me of pistachio or a similar mild nutty flavour. Sometimes I pick up something that reminds me of a classic RY4. Hints of smooth caramel and maybe a touch of vanilla come through giving it a rather familiar taste. Even though I’m quite sure it’s a blend it’s definitely more tobacco forward with the other elements sort of complimenting and propping the rich tobacco flavour up giving it more depth and character. It’s a very soft smooth flavour but it can have a tiny bit of throat hit, it’s mild enough though that I can still enjoy it for prolonged periods. Exactly the sort of thing I think most tobacco fans will enjoy. Just a warm comforting tobacco flavour that I personally adore!!

Final thoughts:

Being that the juice comes from Theory Labs I have absolutely no doubts on quality. They make some really incredible liquids and Dat Bacco Doe fits right in with the level of quality I’ve come to expect from them. Not only are they a great company but they’re run by some of the nicest people you’ll meet in the industry so hats off to Theory labs and crew, you absolutely nailed this one!!
