Honest review time: Free World from Ejuices.ca

Here’s a look at a new set of flavours available from Ejuices.ca. They’re actually produced by a company that’s quite familiar to me, Major Vapes. No not my company but the same folks behind CEV and VapeStrong run by my brother from another mother Saby. This new set is is called Free World and these are my honest thoughts on the new line.

Bottles/Packaging:

The juices come in clear 60ml Chubby Gorilla bottles with a sort of metallic label with each one representing one of three north American countries, namely Canada, The US and Mexico. The labels all do a fantastic job representing their namesakes with each one bearing it’s native flag in the background. The juices come in a 70vg blend and the set I got was in 3mg.

Setup:

Testing was done mostly in a Hadaly clone with a three core alien(3×28/36ni80) build from the Canadian Coil makers SaddleHorse Blues, 4/5 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to 0.28 ohms and running between 35-45w. Using Puff cotton, rda rinsed and rewicked in between. Click here for a shot of the build.

Remember taste is subjective and results will vary!

The Leaf:

Site description: A bowl of icecream topped with fresh strawberries & maple syrup.

Main Flavour Notes: Strawberry, Maple

My thoughts: I thought I’d start with The Leaf, the flavour from the set that represents Canada. It’s a bit of an unusual combination at least as far as iconic Canadian snacks may go as I don’t think I’ve ever combined strawberry ice cream with maple syrup unless it was on top of some pancakes or waffles. I mean we don’t put syrup on everything, do we?

With The Leaf it actually reminds me of so many strawberry cream flavours that have come and gone, the only major difference being the addition of some maple syrup and even that is quite subtle. It has a thick creamy feel that blends well with the sweet somewhat artificial tasting strawberry much like you’d get with a bowl of strawberry ice cream or like a strawberry shake.

It’s topped with just a dash of maple which to be fair I can hardly distinguish on it’s own. Instead I find it gives the flavour and overall darker sweetness like you would get from syrup or brown sugar rather than just a sprinkle of white sugar. Being that it’s the Canadian flavour I want to say it’s the best one from the set but sadly for me it’s a fairly run of the mill strawberry and cream with just a touch of maple on top.

Red, White & Blue:

Site description: A decadent mix of freshly picked blueberries & strawberries with cream.

Main Flavour Notes: Blueberry, Strawberry, Cream

My thoughts: When I saw the description of this one I was half expecting it to taste a bit like The Leaf but much like our cousins to the south it definitely has a taste of it’s own. Red, White & Blue is a tribute to our patriotic friends across the border with the Red representing strawberry, the blue blueberry and the white a sweet dollop of cream.

For me the strawberry and blueberry sort of meld together into a rather pleasant berry blend. Like for the most part I can’t really distinguish one berry from the other but the two combined is actually pretty tasty. I do pick up on little elements of each but as a whole they sort of merge together into an almost generic berry taste.

Add a thick layer of cream underneath and you’ve got a nice bowl of fresh berries in cream which is exactly what Red, White & Blue is supposed to be. Because I can’t really pick apart the berries it does sort of taste like a creamy mixed berry blend but I got to say it’s quite tasty for what it is.

¡Qué Padre!:

Site description: A perfect blend of sweet succulents & tropical fruits.

Main Flavour Notes: Aloe, Cactus, Tropical Fruits

My thoughts: This is the standout of the line and just a beautiful tribute to Mexico. It’s a truly different blend of light tropical fruits and some fresh botanicals like green aloe and cactus. I particularly appreciate the use of aloe and cactus in this one as it adds a super refreshing spirit to the flavour.

For me it tastes like a blend of something fairly light like apple or pear, with something a bit more fragrant like passion fruit all mixed together with the fresh taste of crisp aloe and cactus. If you’ve never tried Aloe or Cactus they have a similar light green taste, not too far off from something like a cucumber but a bit more aromatic and green tasting.

The tropical fruits in this are just obscure enough that I can’t quite place my finger on what they are but regardless of the mystery it’s a super pleasant combination that wakes up the taste buds. If you’re into bright refreshing flavours with a tropical twist then this would be the one to check out.

Final thoughts:

All in all a pretty solid line up, of course quality is no question as it’s produced by the good folks at Major Vapes labs who I know for a fact make quality stuff. They’re being sold by Ejuices.ca and though the site is currently wholesale only I’m told they’ll be offering retail soon so keep an eye out if you can’t find these in your local shop!!
