Chris 'majorvapes' SissonNot long ago a gentleman I’ve known in the industry for a few years now struck out to create his own line of liquids. Having spent years working for a much respected company it was time for him to spread his wings and do his own thing. His name is Mario and he launched his company called Holy Kro with a juice line by the same name. It originally included three fantastic flavours but obviously not one to sit on his laurels Mario has been steadily working on his latest release. It’s an incredibly familiar flavour and one that I personally grew up with but not one that I’ve seen done before. The new juice is called Sticks and this is what I think of it.
Bottles/Packaging:
The juice comes in a clear 60ml authentic Chubby Gorilla bottle with a pretty dark label with a wood grain background, the name Holy Kro up top just above the name of the flavour. It comes in a 70vg blend and the bottle I got was in 3mg. It has a rocking sort of Gothic look to it which I feel does a great job representing the line.
Setup:
Testing was done mostly in a Hadaly clone with a three core alien(3×28/36ni80) build from the Canadian Coil makers SaddleHorse Blues, 4/5 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to 0.28 ohms and running between 35-45w. Using Puff cotton, rda rinsed and rewicked in between. Click here for a shot of the build.

My thoughts: Ok so if you haven’t figured it out yet this flavour is a tribute to a classic sailor touting cigarette shaped candy confection. Yes the venerable Popeye Candy Cigarettes. I’m old enough I can remember when they were actually called that, now I believe they’re simply referred to as candy sticks and they’ve even lost the dyed red ‘glowing’ tip they had in the days of old. At some point our governing body of nannies decided cigarette shaped candy is a major gateway to actual smoking so eventually they had to be renamed and any semblance to an actual cigarette removed. Maybe I’m proof that cigarette shaped candy does in fact lead to smoking as I ended up a smoker for over 26 years but to be fair when I started age restrictions weren’t even a thing yet. I of course would never dream of blaming my boy Popeye or his tasty candy treats for the spinach based habits I picked up.
Sticks is the first true candy stick inspired flavour that I’ve ever tried or even heard of for that matter. I have in the past tasted something that reminds me a bit of those pressed powder candy sticks but never one that was intentionally recreating that particular flavour. With Sticks I get what has to be the most authentic true to taste recreation of a candy stick I’ve had the pleasure of trying. In a way it reminds me of the Popeye candy sticks but also the Lick-A-Stix that came with FunDip, you know, the powered candy you dip your pre-licked stick into. Now some might think ‘well it’s just sugar isn’t it!?’ You’d be wrong. Those candy sticks have a little more to them than just the taste of sugar. They have a light powdery taste but also an almost creamy aspect to them, maybe even a hint of vanilla and Sticks recreates that sensation perfectly. It is a super simple flavour and I’ll admit it is mostly just sweet but if you’ve ever tried a Popeye Candy Stick you’ll know exactly what to expect.
I picked up a couple packs just for some pics but also to do a side by side comparison and I can hardly tell when I switch from the real thing to the vape. Sure it’s sweet ah but it’s surprisingly not cloying just a melt in your mouth creamy sweetness that I can’t seem to get enough of.
Final thoughts:
For me it was love at first vape. I always tend to lean towards flavours that are light and simple which I find makes for a good all day vape and Sticks just joined the list for me. It’s the perfect addition to the murder of Kros already available but hopefully, it’s not the last. My man Mario has been killing it with Holy Kro and I can’t wait to see what he drops next.
