Honest review time: The latest from Look Busy Distro

Juice Jam is an event that takes place in Toronto, a sort of local meet up for juice vendors and vapers alike put on by the incredible folks behind the EcigFlavorium. It started a couple years back but it didn’t happen last year and this past summer they held their second such event in a parking lot in downtown TO. I stopped in to check things out although I’ll admit I didn’t stay long at all because of the heat that day. One of the vendors I always make sure to stop by and see is the Look Busy Distro booth as it’s run by the same folks who run my local shop TheVaporBar. They’re probably the nicest people you will ever meet in this industry and on top of that they make some really fantastic juice. When I stopped in they kindly set me up with two of their latest. Here are my honest thoughts on the latest from Look Busy Distro.

Bottles: The juices come in clear 60ml Chubby Gorilla bottles, the newer ones with the better tips. The labels are different because the two flavours are from different lines but they both sport a familiar look as they use the same design for the label as past releases just with different colours applied. I personally love the look of their bottles and think they look very clean and elegant. The Lee’s flavour is a 100% VG blend while the Cellar Door flavour is an 80vg blend. Both flavours I got were in 3mg. Here’s a shot of the bottles I received:

Setup: Testing was done mostly in a Hadaly clone with a three core alien(3×28/36ni80) build from the Canadian Coil makers SaddleHorse Blues, 4/5 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to 0.28 ohms and running between 35-45w. Using Puff cotton, rda rinsed and rewicked in between. Here’s a shot of a fresh build:

Lee’s: Hazelnut Brandy Tobacco

Site description: Imagine a brandy soaked cigar blended to perfection with hazelnut and a touch of cream. Brandy Hazelnut Tobacco is a subtle blend perfect for tobacco connoisseurs and desert lovers alike. Don’t let the tobacco turn you off. This is one you have to try and see for yourselves.

My thoughts: If you’re not familiar with Lee’s it’s a line of juices that are made to be 100% VG blends. Matt the gentelman behind Look Busy wanted to create a line that any vaper could enjoy since so many folks out there suffer from a PG sensitivity but finding non-PG based liquids can often be a challenge in the industry. A lot of the reason is 100% VG tends to be thick and can lead to wicking issues but also nicotine and flavourings are often carried in PG. To get around this Matt uses only VG  based nicotine and flavourings and introduces a small amount of distilled water to help thin out the liquid and make the 100% VG blend actually vapeable. I’ve already reviewed a bunch of the flavours from the line and each one has been a truly unique experience and Hazelnut Brandy Tobacco is no exception.

From HBT I get a really sweet, soft, creamy blend of a fresh cigar or pipe tobacco with a touch of Brandy and a nutty hazelnut finish. There’s something about it that reminds me of oatmeal for some. They actually have another flavour that is ‘porridge’ based so I wonder if a touch of that made it’s way into HBT?! When you first pick it up the Brandy is likely what will hit you first with it’s sweet, slightly boozy but oh so flavourful hint of the classic after dinner aperitif. I find however after a few pulls the Brandy really calms down and lets the other notes come through, most notably the touch of fresh tobacco. I’m not sure if it’s from the other ingredients but it comes off as a sweet Cuban or a burley pipe tobacco sort of taste but with the other notes in there it’s hard to pin down exactly what I’m tasting. Like many tobacco flavours it adds depth and complexity but without tasting like a wet ashtray or a mouthful of chew. The hazelnut comes in near the end, sort of finishing off the flavour and plays in to the creamy aspect of it. I’ve go to say it really wasn’t anything like I’d expected but at the same time I really wasn’t disappointed in the least. I absolutely adore the fact that they are always trying something new and different, not just putting out the latest one shot flavour from Capella or wherever. Truly unique and interesting flavours and Hazelnut Brandy Tobacco is a beautiful new addition to the line up. Fans of creamy tobacco flavours like me will do well to check this one out!!!

Cellar Door No.84: Watermelon Mimosa

Site description: Our latest addition to the Cellar Door menu. Introducing No84. A refreshing Watermelon Mimosa. Refreshing sweet watermelon and orange citrus notes with a soda base. Perfect refreshing vape for those of you with a sweet tooth.

My thoughts: Again another very interesting take on a classic and something I don’t believe I’ve actually tried irl. I’ve tried a regular orange juice based mimosa but a watermelon mimosa just sounds so much better and if it tastes anything like this flavour then I definitely need to try one. With Cellar Door No.84 I get a really pleasant mix of mostly fresh watermelon, just a touch of orange citrus and that classic soda pop flavour underneath. This one too is a bit on the sweet side so it might not be for everyone but boy does it hit the spot with me. I’ve always been a fan of watermelon flavours yet with so many available there isn’t much to distinguish them, No.84 on the other hand definitely manages to set itself apart.

With No. 84 I get a really pleasant watermelon up front, it’s not super realistic tasting but you come to expect that with most watermelon flavours. The watermelon in this however has a slight advantage as it teams up with an ever so slightly zesty orange citrus to really help make it pop. The actual orange flavour is fairly mild but I definitely pick up the splash of zest from it which really helps the watermelon feel not so fake. It’s sort of like when you grab a chunk of watermelon from a fruit platter that came in contact with a piece of orange and there’s a bit of crossover with the flavours, it tastes sort of like that. The whole thing is finished off with a good shot of that soda pop flavouring you get from most soda pop flavours. While it doesn’t really make it fizzy like ‘pop’ to me it definitely gives it some body adding a slight thickness to it which really comes through in the mouth feel. It also gives it just a hint of dryness like you might get from sparkling water which is why some might associate it with soda. Don’t get me wrong, even though it doesn’t really give it that soda pop feel for me personally I thoroughly enjoy the flavour and the extra dimension the soda flavour gives it. This one was a real eye opener and I’m almost sad I didn’t get in to it sooner when the weather was still warm.

Overall About Look Busy Distro:

Matt and Coco the incredible folks behind Look Busy Distro and these two flavours have time and again proven themselves to be amazing business owners, entrepreneurs and on top of all that talented juice makers. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again they are some of the most wonderful people you could possibly meet in this industry and it’s them I give credit to for getting me off the stinks. If you’re ever in the Hamilton area I’d highly recommend you go check out one of their amazing shops and try some of their fantastic flavours I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!! Of course if you can’t make it out they are available online as well!! And before anyone suggests it, no I’m not kissing up they’re just really good people and if you check some of my past reviews for them I think you’ll see I don’t hold back 😉
