Honest one shot: Prizm: RY4 from Vapour Artisans

Here’s a look at a wonderful new tobacco flavour from one of my favorite companies out there, Vapour Artisans. It actually looks like it’s from a new line called Prizm but I only got the one flavour to test out. If the rest of the line is anything like this though I definitely need to add these to the list. Here are my honest thoughts on Prizm: RY4 from Vapour Artisans.

Bottles:

The juice comes in a clear 60ml Chubby Gorilla bottle with a lovely white label depicting a prism that contains what looks like a tobacco leaf and some other elements. It states directly under the name it’s an RY4, which I always like to see. It’s got all the usual important info we like to see on the bottle and it comes in a 65vg blend with the bottle I got in 3mg.

Setup:

Testing was done mostly in a Hadaly clone with a three core alien(3×28/36ni80) build from the Canadian Coil makers SaddleHorse Blues, 4/5 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to 0.28 ohms and running between 35-45w. Using Puff cotton, rda rinsed and rewicked in between. Here’s a shot of a fresh build:

Prizm: RY4

Ry4

Site Description: For the tobacco enthusiast. A smooth tobacco inhale with a subtle caramel and vanilla exhale.

My Thoughts: If you’re not familiar with what an RY4 is it’s essentially a blanket term used for tobacco flavours that usually includes three main components, a tobacco, a caramel and a vanilla. They vary tremendously throughout the industry but tend to have at least those three components in common. However with the sheer variety of tobacco flavours and not to mention vanillas and caramels out there this flavour can be about as varied as possible. I’ve been enjoying RY4 blends pretty much my entire vaping career and over the years have come across some really incredible ones but also some that have fallen quite short. In fact my favorite tobacco flavour of all time comes from Vapour Artisans and is essentially a beefed up RY4 called NX.

With Prizm: RY4 I get one of the cleanest RY4 experiences I’ve had yet. It tastes an awful lot like my fav NX but lighter and maybe a bit less complex. Don’t ask me what kind of tobacco it uses as it’s blended so well with the caramel and vanilla that the tobacco itself becomes almost indistinct. I think with most RY4s that I’ve tried the tobacco is most often understated letting the vanilla and caramel really stand out but some have it the other way around. With Prizm: RY4 it’s quite nicely balance with just a touch of the tobacco coming through which almost acts more as a spice then it does a main element supporting the vanilla and caramel as opposed to side lining them.

It’s a pretty bold flavour but isn’t overbearing in anyway and if you were a fan of their NX flavour I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy this one as well. With the tobacco being somewhat mild even folks who aren’t sure about tobacco flavours in general could probably get in to this one as it does have a fairly strong dessert flavour to compliment the often daunting taste of tobacco. I for one appreciated it for what it was and after only trying it once it immediately took up it’s new permanent residence in my Kayfun 5.

Overall: Already being a fan of Vapour Artisans NX flavour Prizm: RY4 was pretty much a shoo in with me! For any fans of classic RY4 flavours I’d highly recommend you go and check this one out and maybe grab a bottle of NX while you’re at it, you can thank me later. While I understand tobacco flavours aren’t for everyone a lot of people still really appreciate them after making the switch and having a great option like Prizm: RY4 available just makes the journey all that more delightful. So huge thanks once again to Jason and crew, you guys are tops in my book!!
