Chances are if you live in Canada, especially western Canada and you vape, you’ve probably heard of VanGo Vapes. They’re an awesome company out of British Columbia that’s been making juice for the past five years and I’ve been a fan for almost as long. Admittedly when they first started out they had a bit of a ‘throw everything at the wall’ approach to flavours but through that process they still managed to produce some real gems. Since then they’ve definitely refined their methods and now produce lines that are much more focused. I recently had the pleasure of trying some of their latest which includes a new line called Shiver and a new addition to their Quenchers line called Sweet Citrus. Here are my honest thoughts on the latest from VanGo Vapes.
The juices all come in clear 60ml authentic Chubby Gorilla bottles with bright colourful labels sporting images of fruit in the background and big bold fonts for the names over top. With their bright colours and attractive designs they definitely catch the eye. They’re available in both standard and salt nic versions with the standard juices coming in a 70vg blend and the salt versions also being listed as 70vg. The set I got was in 3mg and 20mg respectively.
For the salt versions testing was done in a Berserker MTL RDA with a simple 30g kanthal build, about 6/7 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to about 1.8ohms and running between 10-15w. I also tested them in an Aspire Breeze NXT with fresh 0.8ohm mesh coils.
For the freebase version testing was done mostly in a Hadaly clone with a three core alien(3×28/36ni80) build from the Canadian Coil makers SaddleHorse Blues, 4/5 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to 0.28 ohms and running between 35-45w. Using Puff cotton, rda rinsed and rewicked in between. Click here for a shot of the build.

Site description: Sweet citrus is orange, tangerine, lemon, lime. A Little on the sweeter rather than sour side.
My thoughts: VanGo Sweet Citrus is a super punchy, super flavourful mix of all of the most popular citrus fruits. It’s like they took a handful of oranges, tangerines, lemons and lime and squeezed them all in to a bright refreshing citrusy blend. I’d agree with the description that it definitely leans more towards sweet than sour but it still has a slight acid to it that kind of hits me in the back of the throat. It’s not squeeze your cheeks sour but it definitely still retains some of the natural kick that most citrus fruits have.
I find the orange and tangerine elements are slightly more forward in the flavour than the lemon or lime which I’m actually cool with and despite the mix of often sour fruits it stays true to the description and comes off nice and sweet. Not sugary sweet but definitely more sweet than sour. It reminds me a bit of melted orange Freezies with a slightly more natural sour finish and if you ask me it’s a citrus lovers delight.
Site description: A perfectly sweet and tart combination of lemons and lime bursting with juicy tangerines and freshly squeezed oranges, slightly cooled to the perfect level!
My thoughts: Now based on the description you’d almost expect this one to taste just like Sweet Citrus but it really couldn’t be a more different experience. VanGo Citrus Jive combines the same bowl of citrus fruits that Sweet Citrus does but delivers it in a completely different way. For me it comes off more tart like a lemon drop candy but with a nice cool finish. For me the tart lemon and bright lime come out slightly ahead in this one unlike the orange and tangerine in Sweet Citrus.
I almost feel like this one uses a touch of menthol rather than koolada or ws-23 for the cool factor as it almost comes off a touch minty. It even reminds me a bit of eucalyptus for some reason but it could just be the blend of fruits mixed with the cool tricking my tongue. With that bit of coolness this one reminds me of something like a lemon Halls more than a Freezie but not quite as intense and just slightly more sweet. Definitely not as sweet as Sweet Citrus but it still has a nice, almost candy like finish to it. Folks who like things a touch more tart and with a nice shot of cool to it will probably jive with this one.
Site description: The delicate sweetness and bite of a ripe pomegranate, perfectly complemented by a bright touch of blackcurrant and a gentle base of blackberry, all subtly chilled to perfection!
My thoughts: VanGo Black Pom Pom for me is a super heady mix of blackberry, currants and pomegranate. The blackberry and currant give it a really dark berry taste that’s quite strong and bold. The pomegranate is described as delicate which is fitting as it kind of gets overwhelmed by the darker berry and currant mix and it’s almost like I smell it more than I taste it. I’m sure it adds to the sweetness and bite but I can’t really pick it out on it’s own.
I got to say Black Pom Pom is one of the stronger blackberry type flavours I’ve tried and is absolutely packed with taste bud punching flavour. It too has a light coolness to it which really kicks the flavour up a notch but doesn’t make it mediciney or anything like that. Maybe it’s the fruit it’s paired with but it doesn’t feel quite as strong as Citrus Jive. This one too is a bit on the sweet side but it’s not overwhelming at all and works really well with the dark berry blend in the mix. I’m thinking fans of bold blackberry and black currant type flavours will appreciate what this one brings to the table.
VanGo are never ones to rest on their laurels and are constantly innovating, creating and refining their line ups. Over the years they’ve really honed their craft and now regularly release new and exciting flavours for vapers to enjoy. I know I’ve said it before and I’ve said it about some others but they truly have something for everyone with their extensive listing of flavours. Definitely check them out!!
