Fit and Finish:

Construction seems decent. The aluminum body doesn’t feel cheap, but note that is it larger than most stick type devices. There are no rough edges and everything looks to fit together nicely.

A large button acts as the on/off and as a firing button. The button is “clicky” with a nice tactile feel. The button also activates the battery display. The display LED is bright but not over-bearing.

Pods are magnetic but also firmly click into place.

The USB port is just slightly misaligned on mine – but it takes the plug and does charge without issue. 520 mAh built-in batt is reasonable given the 1.4 ohm pods – decent most of the day usage.

Pods:

Pods are 2mL… European TPD compliance and such – plus, it’s a pod. A K1 Kanthal coil resistance of 1.4 ohms is perfect for nic salts – but the juice holes are large enough that you can use 70/30 traditional nic e-liquids. Pod construction is decent. The mouthpiece has a good design and feels ok between your lips. The mouthpiece also acts as the cover. Squeeze the sides to remove the mouthpiece – that will reveal two fill ports, one on each side of the chimney. Dual ports allow air to escape while filling, but squirt juice in both sides when filling to even up the liquid. The wick holes are actually fairly tight to the side of the pod – you will notice the liquid actually creeps up the side through capillary action.

Vape Quality:

The draw is fairly tight but not nearly as tight as some pre-filled pod systems. It’s going to be a slightly loose MTL vape. Slow your draw and you’ll get maximum flavor. My initial tests were with Dinner Lady Lemon Tart nic salt. I have also used a 70/30 traditional nic with excellent results. The flavor rendition with the Caliburn is excellent. It may well be the best flavor for a sub $50 device out there. The auto-draw activation is light and smooth and the vape quality is consistent from pull to pull with no sag until it was just about out of gas. The device can also be button activated should the auto-draw fail. I’m currently on my 4th fill of the pod and the flavor is still going strong. I will update once I have a good handle on pod life from multiple sources.

Verdict:

The Caliburn has excellent flavor rendition and the hype behind this one is real. The device is not high priced at $40 CND or less and the pods I’ve seen advertised as low as $18 CND for a 4 pack.  Dollar vs performance – you won’t find better value as of writing. Pods systems aren’t meant to replace your dripper for flavor so keep your expectations realistic and you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the vape quality.

UWell enters the pod market with a “home run”. Let me re-iterate – the vape is warm, flavorful and satisfying. It may very well be the best pod available to date.

Worth it if you can find it – but like I keep telling everyone – stock up on first run coils now. I see this being posted as “coming soon” on a lot of sites.
