Honest review time: KXS from Québec Vape Labs

Here’s a look at an incredible dessert line from the good folks at
Québec Vape Lab. The KXS Liquid line actually originates from Malaysia and they’ve built up a solid reputation in both Asia and Europe with QVLabs grabbing the distribution rights up here in Canada. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a set and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. These are my honest thoughts on KXS liquids from Quebec Vape Laboratories.

Bottles/Packaging:

The juices all come in nice tinted 60ml authentic Chubby Gorilla bottles with some really beautiful looking labels on them. The labels have a sort of line art background with each one varying in colour based on the flavour it contains. The flavour names are pretty descriptive so it’s easy enough to tell which one is which. The juices all come in a 70vg blend with the ones I got all being in 3mg. I’ve got to say they’re some of the nicest looking bottles I’ve come by recently.

Setup:

Testing was done mostly in a Hadaly clone with a three core alien(3×28/36ni80) build from the amazing Canadian Coil makers SaddleHorse Blues, 4/5 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to 0.28 ohms and running between 35-45w. Using Puff cotton, rda rinsed and rewicked in between. Click here for a shot of a fresh build.

KXS Liquid Berry P.C.

Site description: Delicious taste of Italian dessert pana cotta, its rich with creamy flavors, mixed with various delicious and fresh berries.

My thoughts: I’m going to start with the only one from the set that I didn’t really love. Kxs liquid Berry P.C. is a take on an Italian Pana Cotta dessert which happens to be a favorite irl dessert of mine. If you’ve never had it, it’s a sort of cream based gelatin dessert typically made with milk/cream, sugar and vanilla with some gelatin to help set it. It’s basically milk Jello but served with some sort of topping like a berry coulis or just some fresh fruit with maybe a simple syrup.

With Berry P.C. I get a mix of a very floral berry blend settled over an almost cheesy cream taste. It’s an unusual taste for a creamy flavour and one I don’t think I’m familiar with. It’s not quite a yogurt but much more bold than a regular cream. The berry blend which I’m guessing has some blueberry in it comes off quite flowery and I hate to say it but something about it reminds me of baby powder or oddly enough the smell of fresh diapers.

I know it sounds weird but it definitely has a powdery floral vibe to it. I’m sure there are some other berries in the mix but it’s one of those mixes where you can’t really distinguish one from the other. Now I could almost get used to the unusual creaminess of it but the floral notes were the ones that got to me. Sadly this one isn’t quite the Pana Cotta I was looking for.

KXS Liquid Peanut B.C.

Site description: Tasty chocolate with a chunk of peanut butter, definitely the taste of your favourite dessert.

My thoughts: Peanut butter and chocolate has to be one of the most iconic flavour combinations of all time and one of my personal favorites to indulge in. With Peanut B.C. I get a fairly sweet mix of a light milk chocolate and a sweet creamy peanut butter. I’ve got to say there’s something in the mix that gives it a bit of throat hit especially on the first few pulls but I found it varies quite a bit depending on the setup I’m running it through.

The chocolate in the mix is quite mild and comes through as one of the mid to lower notes. I’m pretty sure it’s more of a milk chocolate unless the PB is playing tricks giving it that bit of creaminess. The peanut butter is somewhat sweet, creamy but not overpoweringly strong. Really the two flavours balance out pretty well and despite being a desserty flavour it’s not overly sweet or cloying in anyway. For a chocolate flavour it’s fairly mild which makes it a bit easier to keep on with over longer periods that is if the throat hit on this one doesn’t bother you. Still a really nice flavour and one that chocolate and peanut butter fans will probably dig.

KXS Liquid C. Macchiato

Site description: A great flavor for coffee lovers out there, it’s a mixture of salted caramel in a freshly brewed macchiato.

My thoughts: I love a good coffee flavour and this was actually the first in the set that I cracked open. Right away I get that classic taste of rich espresso with a thick creamy taste. The coffee or espresso flavour in it is familiar and has a really deep almost woody essence to it. Something about this espresso flavour reminds me of chicory coffee or something like that. Chicory if you’ve never tried it is often used as a caffeine-free coffee substitute and is derived from the roots of the Chicory plant, it tends to impart earthy woody notes to the coffee which some people dig. It has a whole history of it’s own but that’s another story.

That classic espresso flavour is layered with milk and an almost equally rich salted caramel that really fills it out and gives the flavour considerably more body. It comes off buttery and a touch sweet but I kind of expect that with any caramel flavour. Salted caramel is a challenging flavour as it’s difficult to convey the taste of salt through a vape but it definitely imparts a somewhat salty buttery taste which basically equates to yummy salted caramel. Rich, creamy and sweet I really dig this one and I think most fans of coffee blends will too!

KXS Liquid White C.M.

Site description: Rich , creamy and velvety with white chocolate taste of macaron that will make you addicted with the flavor. Perfect for macaron lovers out there.

My thoughts: This is one of those flavours that’s almost hard to put your finger on. It’s light, fleeting almost but for me, all day vape material. I’ve always said my favorite flavours tend to be the ones that keep me wanting more and with White C.M. I get exactly that. It’s a very light mix of white chocolate and an equally light macaron which is basically a cookie made from meringue and almonds. White C.M. which at first I thought was a white chocolate macadamia cookie tastes delicately sweet with a very slight nutty taste to it.

The white chocolate like I mention is delicate and it doesn’t really give it a creamy milky taste more like it just adds a bit of cocoa butter sweetness to it. It compliments the light nutty taste of the macaron really nicely without overtaking it as both the main elements are super light it wouldn’t take much to upset the balance. I will mention that this one can come off a touch dry at times but I figure it’s because the flavours in it are so light. For many this might be too light of a flavour but for me it’s damn near perfect.

KXS Liquid Cacahuete

Site description: Kxs liquid Cacahuete, or peanut is a rich creamy flavor with strong peanut taste, a must try flavor for vaper who seek new flavors which is definitely different from others.

My thoughts: Hands down the standout from the line and one of the most authentic peanut flavour experiences I’ve had yet. Cracking this open you really get the smell of peanuts but upon tasting it, my god it’s just like chewing a mouthful of freshly shelled peanuts. I swear I even get the ever so slightly bitter taste of the skin that usually comes with a peanut. After the first few pulls it does sort of calm down a little and moves to an almost creamier, slightly sweeter peanut butter sort of taste. Almost like I chewed up a handful of peanuts and made peanut butter in my mouth.

It’s not salty or anything and the sweetness I get from it isn’t anything more than you’d get from say Skippy peanut butter but man is it satisfying. At first I really thought it was more of a roasted peanut flavour but after spending more time with it I think it’s almost more of a fresher peanut flavour or like boiled peanuts all mashed up into a butter. I’ve got two kids and we go through an ungodly amount of peanut butter in our house so for me Cacahuete is a very welcome flavour and a real eye opening experience for me. Nut lovers won’t want to pass this one up!!

Final thoughts:

I must say I was quite impressed with the flavours from this line but then again I am a bit of a sucker for some tasty desserts. They might be a bit of a challenge for some folks to find but they’re readily available in a number of shops throughout QC and are also available online through Apothic Vapes. I should mention they come at what some might consider a premium price but we’ll leave it to you to decide if they’re worth it. For me I found them a nice variety of beautifully crafted dessert flavours with a couple that really stood out!
