Honest review time: RAW from Churchill

I regularly find myself saying that some of the best Canadian mixologists hail from Québec and a recent release from a well known Canadian juice maker just reinforces my theory. From the creator of E-Apothecary Monsieur Alex Beaucage comes a new line named after his recent hardware release called Churchill. The first flavour in the new line is called RAW which eludes to the actual flavour of the new juice. Alex a former professional cook even produced a fun little video offering up the recipe of the real-life version of the new flavour, a cookie dough infused custard. Here are my honest thoughts on RAW from Churchill.

Bottles: The juice comes in a white authentic Chubby Gorilla bottle with a black and white label with the golden arms of an octopus in the background. One thing about Alex is he knows style and absolutely nails it with the design of this label. It’s clean and classy with a somewhat understated look while still managing to include all of the relevant information on the bottle as well as all of the required regulation stuff. One more thing that’s unique about this new line is it’s an 80vg blend but uses low concentration salt nicotine for an ultra smooth experience. Normally I would vape 3mg but this arrived in 6mg with the caveat that it’s vapes just like a typical 3mg with no noticeable throat hit from the nicotine. Here’s a shot of the lovely looking bottle I got:

Raw

Setup: Testing was done mostly in a Hadaly clone with a three core alien(3×28/36ni80) build from the Canadian Coil makers SaddleHorse Blues, 4/5 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to 0.28 ohms and running between 35-45w. Using Puff cotton, rda rinsed and rewicked in between. Here’s a shot of a fresh build:

RAW (10/10)

(Site description: Welcome the newest confectionery treat from Churchill, RAW e-liquid! RAW is the first of its kind in its use of Salt NIX™ nicotine technology at an 80 VG | 20 PG ratio for plumes of vapor and impeccably smooth throat hit. RAW delivers on a smooth and chewy dough texture with a flavour profile that features huge chocolate curls and fragrant vanilla.)

RAW is exactly my kind of thing, the sort of flavour I personally could vape all day. It’s a lovely mix of smooth vanilla custard with a dash of raw chocolate chip cookie dough. I cut my teeth on custard flavours and eventually moved to desserts as my profile of choice so RAW has a lot to offer for me. Upfront I pick up more of the creamy vanilla custard with the cookie dough mostly coming through on the exhale. As much as it is a rich and decadent flavour the whole thing manages to stay light, almost fleeting with none of the components really smacking me in the face. It’s one of those flavours that you just can’t seem to get enough of so you want to keep vaping more of it.

The chocolate in the mix which is described as huge chocolate curls is rather light, I pick it up more as a chocolate chip cookie dough then I do the separate components of chocolate and raw dough. Chocolate can be a dominating flavour but in RAW it shares the spotlight pretty equally with the cookie dough and custard. The cookie dough itself is spot on and I swear it almost manages to impart that gritty buttery melt in your mouth texture like the real thing does.

I for one have had a hard time putting this one down and will admit the bottle is almost empty ahead of the review which is a pretty rare occurrence. It’s well balanced, not too sweet, full of flavour and despite the 6mg it’s incredibly smooth and satisfying thanks to their proprietary salt nicotine blend. It does however mean that it comes at a slightly more premium price as most salt nic based liquids do. Considering you’ll most likely be ripping through this stuff the additional price may be a factor for some.

Overall: RAW is a fantastic introduction to a new line and considering how much I enjoyed it I really can’t wait to see what’s next in store for Churchill. Alex a master mixologist has done it once again with this gem. If you haven’t tried anything from Alex whether his Churchill line or his original E-Apothecary line I’d highly recommend you go and check them out, he makes some really incredible stuff and considering he’s now teamed up with SaltNix a division of Vaporus you know the quality will be top notch. So huge thanks to Alex for sending this liquid gold my way, I really enjoyed this one!!
