Honest review time: True Northern Coffee Flavours

Here’s a look at a couple of coffee based flavours from one of my all time favorite juice makers in Canada, True Northern. Whenever I review their stuff I tend to gush a bit as I’m truly amazed by the talent that goes in to making their liquids. Each one is so unbelievably different from anything else out there that they tend to stand out in a sea of similar flavours that the market seems flooded with.

While I have in fact reviewed these in the past, I’m told a lot of their flavours have been revised, of course opinions can change and tastes evolve so lets see how they hold up a few years later. Here are my honest thoughts on True Northerns coffee flavours.

Bottles/Packaging:

The juices come in clear 60ml authentic Chubby Gorilla bottles with labels that have a sort of generic coffee cup look to them. You know the one you get an diner or from a mom and pop coffee shop. I think they have a sort of classic look to them and match the line well. The juices come in an 80vg blend and the ones I got were all in 3mg.

Setup:

Testing was done mostly in a Hadaly clone with a three core alien(3×28/36ni80) build from the Canadian Coil makers SaddleHorse Blues, 4/5 wraps on a 2.5mm coming out to 0.28 ohms and running between 35-45w. Using Puff cotton, rda rinsed and rewicked in between. Click here to see a shot of the build.

True Northern Quad Shot

Site description:Decadent salted caramel macchiato made just for you using fresh coffee beans and of course, four generous pumps of delicious caramel at no extra cost.

My thoughts: The first time I reviewed this flavour I scored it a 10 out of 10 but that was based entirely on personal opinion. However since then my scoring system has changed a bit and a perfect 10 is now almost impossible to achieve but that doesn’t mean my opinion of it is diminished in any way.

With Quad Shot I get an incredibly rich creamy salted caramel macchiato pretty much exactly as it’s described. I can almost smell the saltiness of the caramel and even sort of taste just a hint of it in the mix. The rich buttery caramel is the more forward flavour in the mix but that’s not to say I don’t get a nice taste of the espresso as well. Despite espresso being a dark rich flavour it’s actually a fairly light addition to Quad Shot. It gives it a nice coffee like undertone without completely taking over and sort of lets the sweet salty caramel shine through. I love coffee and coffee flavoured vapes and this is exactly the sort of thing I can ADV, it also pairs beautifully with a morning coffee!!

True Northern Asana

Site description: Pursue café beverage nirvana with this delightful spiced vanilla bean latte blend accented with a touch of cinnamon and cloves.

My thoughts: My initial review of this flavour wasn’t bad but I did call out the rather strong almost potpourri like spice it contained. I’m not sure if they’ve toned it down just a touch or if my tolerance has gone up but it definitely tastes subtly milder than I recall. I absolutely love a good Chai latte, yes I know very basic of me but it’s something that I’ve always appreciated. Something about the rich deep spice blend is so warm and comforting that I usually start to crave it when the temperatures outside start to drop.

With Asana I’m treated to a lovely blend of a lightly sweet somewhat thick tasting vanilla bean latte that’s kicked up with a fairly strong hit of spice. Sweet notes of vanilla and rich frothy milk give it a comforting and approachable latte taste while the spice blend really punches it up. The spice blend in it is familiar, festive almost with a distinct cinnamon and clove spice taste to it. I find it tastes an awful lot like a Chai Latte, warm and spicy but not so strong you can’t enjoy it. For me it’s still a bit too strong to vape as an all day but I definitely enjoy the comforting nature of the blend as an after dinner treat or as a warm comforting wake up on a cold dreary day.

Final thoughts:

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this “true northern” company. Sure a lot of their flavours might be a bit too different for some but for me they are absolutely incredible. As a guy who is constantly being tasked with tasting nearly the same flavours over and over True Northern is a refreshing change from the monotony of blue raspberry and strawberry creams out there. So if you’re looking for something a bit different from the rest I’d highly highly recommend you go and check out what True Northern has to offer.
